Bi-cubic Scaffold Surfaces

چکیده
Scaffold-like surfaces, ranging from large-scale trusses to engineered micro-structures, are often sketched via repeating patterns of nodes and edges. Offsetting these graphs turns them into meshes for which a smoothly-rounded scaffold surface ‘skin’ needs be locally generated on the fly production or analysis. We focus minimal single-valence (MSV) quad whose irregular vertices all have same valence n closest pairs separated by exactly one regular, 4-valent vertex. Though at first glance rather special, MSV can model various micro-structures that occur in CAD biology. Remarkably, bi-cubic patches provide smooth skin high quality, many practical configurations with just patch per quad.

Implicitizing Bi-Cubic Toric Surfaces by Dixon? - Resultant Quotients
Toric surface patches have two significant geometric properties: they are multi-sided and they are generalizations of both the triangular and rectangular Bezier surface patches. They also have a very nice algebraic property: their implicit equations are closely related to the Dixon determinant. In particular, for bi-cubic toric patches without base points, their implicit equation can always be ...

We study global log canonical thresholds of cubic surfaces with canonical singularities, and we prove the existence of a Kähler–Einstein metric on two singular cubic surfaces.
متن کاملExplicit Real Cubic Surfaces
The topological classification of smooth real cubic surfaces is recalled and compared to the classification in terms of the number of real lines and of real tritangent planes, as obtained by L. Schläfli in 1858. Using this, explicit examples of surfaces of every possible type are given.
متن کاملRemoval of Gaps among Compound C Bi-Cubic Parametric B-spline Surfaces
Manipulation of control points is a standard procedure in parametric B-spline surface design. Unfortunately, this tool alone is not sufficient to achieve certain goals such as removal of gaps among compound parametric B-spline surfaces. In this paper, we introduce a new approach for removing gaps but maintaining at least the geometrical smoothness condition. If the underlying knot sequences alo...
متن کاملCurvature continuous bi-4 constructions for scaffold- and sphere-like surfaces
Scaffold surfaces bound geometric structures that have a dual characterization as a curve network and a solid. A subset of scaffold surfaces can be modeled with minimal single-valence (MSV) meshes, i.e. meshes consisting of vertices of a single irregular valence n two of which are separated by exactly one regular, 4-valent vertex. We present an algorithm for constructing piecewise biquartic sur...
